David Brown Instructor/Boatbuilder/Exhibit Designer
When Dave Brown saw the schooner Te Vega pass the whale watch vessel he was
on, he knew he wanted to be under sail. Trained in economics and
international finance, Dave has moved far afield. He signed on to the
Landmark School's Te Vega and became a traveling educator, sailing to
Russia, Scandinavia and many European ports before returning to his native
Gloucester. An advocate of experiential learning, he now puts his teaching
skills to work on behalf of Cape Ann students. |

Bill Van Stight Property Manager
When he's not making or preparing canvas for Gloucester boat owners and
operators, Bill is making sure that GMHC's facilities and piers are
functioning properly and ready for use by thousands of students and guests.
Bill assisted with the restoration of the Burnham Brothers Marine Railway
after its purchase by GMHC and worked on the Adventure, the first vessel to
undergo restoration under the railway's new ownership. |

Kristin McGrath Bookkeeper
Kristin splits here time between the GMHC, her own bookkeeping business and a business making and selling jewelry. A Seattle native who grew up boating among the islands of Washington State, Kristin still finds time to join her family for cruises in home state waters. In Gloucester, she’s worked with some of the city’s prominent business leaders. |

Douglass Parsons Shipwright
Many people have been influenced by James Michener. Doug is one of them. An
early fan of the Michener-created TV series Adventures in Paradise, Doug was
intrigued by the schooner Tiki II featured on the program, so much so that
restoring wooden vessels became a life-time pursuit. A Gloucester native,
Doug has spent more than 30 years working around wooden boats; most of them,
including Adventure, are part of Gloucester's fishing heritage. |
