What does it cost? Annual dues are $40, payable in January or after you start rowing. New rowers are typically given a grace period of a few rows to make sure they want to continue. There are usually crews going out at 6:30 a.m. weekdays, 6:30 p.m. weekdays, and 8 a.m. weekends, as well as some midday times on weekdays. There is opportunity to establish additional rowing times, as interest dictates. Who can row? The Gloucester Gig Rowers is open to men and women, and youth ages 14-18. No rowing experience is necessary. There are no special clothing and equipment requirements, other than to dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. Some rowers prefer to wear bicycling-style gloves. Personal floatation devices ("life jackets") are carried on board for each crew member, and are provided, although rowers may bring their own if desired. |
